I Need It

I need it.

That something

I need it sharp and biting

Buzzing vibrancy balanced on the edges of bees’ wings and dug deep down with bones

That edgedness that cuts but smooths

Chipping away at the unnecessaries

Till all you need is breathing and that is just enough, thank you I want sex in the rain

I want to be pounded into the earth

Beaten into dust with pestle and mortar and built back up again

I want my feet to bleed

Cut by mountain tops

Savaged by the teeth of lovers and wild wolves

I want my dancing to not stop till my bones crumble beneath my weight and in so doing find that lightness

That one that birds do when they fall and rise up at the cusp of crashing

I want my beating palms to slap at solid water till it breaks and dive beneath the iced up liquid

Hovering till numb

And all I feel is the blood as it rushes through me and tries to keep

me switched on

I want to hang there till the seals stop being afraid and come lick me with their warm tongues

That way when I melt I'll be a part of them and we can swim beneath the ice together

I'll go down kicking biting screaming

But once I'm down you'll want to join me

Theres a much better view frown down in the earth where life pulses

Less tower top glass city smoke filled

Less wash it down with whisky

We'll wash it down with sea water and drink our own sweat till dizzy with the brilliance of it all

We'll forget the clinger clangor of the metal hunks and dig our own tunnels of direction

Moles with dirty fingernails making their cocoon

Nests of naked bodies cooking from the inside

Bellies warm and dark with the goodies of the earth

Let's break these boundaries

These lexicons of species time and self

Let's step free from these bonds

The shackles of mortality

Let's sing till our throats are raw and all there is is silence and it pours from us like waterfalls and all who hear it stop to listen

Because nothing can be beautiful too

You just have to look.

Let's be the lambs of sacrifice.

Let's make it happen.

You won't regret it.

Because regret does not exist in the face of such …
